Notes or degrees?
Switching the labels from note names to scale degrees is the single most useful thing on this page. Note names tell you where you are. Degrees tell you what the note is doing, and the pattern is the same in every key, so learning it once covers all twelve.
The chords underneath
The table below the fretboard shows the chords built from the scale. This is why a song in G tends to use G, Am, Bm, C, D, Em: those are simply the chords the scale contains. If you are writing something and want it to hang together, that row is the palette.
